Artificial Marble is a product of a carefully measured mix of marble powder, pigment, and resin. The mixture is cast to form a block cutting using the vacuum oscillation, which is then cut processed and polished to form finished slabs. A few manufacturers use a specially curated polyester resin with special high strength, low viscosity properties. This polyester resin is used to produce wear resistant, low water-absorptive, strong, durable artificial marble with a quality gloss finish.
Artificial marble is generally known for its high strength, construction convenience, light weight, corrosion resistance and rich patterns. They are also ideal decorative materials, commonly used to furnish kitchens as countertops, apart from its other applications. Cement-material artificial marble uses sand as a fine aggregate, cement as a binder and other materials like crushed marble, industrial waste, granite and other coarse aggregates. The mix undergoes a thorough preparation procedure, which includes mixing, molding, pressure-steam curing, and polishing. These slabs or tiles are known as Terrazzo tiles.
Polyester Artificial Marble uses unsaturated polyester-based resin as a binder, and a combination of other additives like calcite powder, marble powder, and quartz sand. This carefully measured mixture is cast molded and solidified using a curing agent. The mold is then stripped, dried and polished, resulting in unsaturated slabs, in varying colors with shiny surfaces. Composite artificial marble is a mix of inorganic material and composite material, which comprises of an organic polymer. After bonding, the mold is immersed into an organic monomer under certain conditions to polymerize. This gives the artificial marble unique surface designs, with a marble flour and polyester surface.
Sintering process artificial marble is made with a mix of calcite, quartz, hematite, pyroxene, kaolin, and feldspar. The mix is processed using a semi-dry press-mold method at temperatures of about 1000 degrees, called the mud billet production method. These types of artificial are the most common, with mechanical and structural properties that are equal to or even greater than that of natural marble. These high-quality slabs, blocks, and tiles are imported, exported and locally products, and supplied by well-known establishments across the UAE. Artificial marble is ideal for indoor use, for decorative and functional purposes. A few suppliers can be found at the England Cluster in Dubai International City, Mussafah M-39 in Abu Dhabi and Al Buhaira Corniche in Sharjah.
